Strangelove Festival
We made the teaser for the 2017 edition of Strangelove festival (visit their current website ).
Strangelove is a queer alternative arts festival on gender diversity and sexual identity. The festival was held in Het Bos in Antwerp in the summer of 2018.
Primitive: a video collection
The teaser is a shortened version of our art project “Primitive”.
In 3d software, the primitives are a collection of shapes that form the building blocks for making all other objects. These shapes include a cube, a sphere, a torus, and others. By animating these primitives in certain ways, “Primitive” shows primitive desires, actions, and body parts. Objects meet, interact, evolve, and dominate. While showing nothing explicit this work sparks sexual thoughts. The artist gains control over the imagination of the spectator. The spectator becomes a slave to the images.
“Primitive” is a collection of short (5 to 10 seconds) video loops that can be projected or shown on a screen.
Gif loops/Animated Gifs
20 million views
The videos got a second life on Giphy, the gif-sharing platform. Together they enmassed more than 20 million views. These aren’t rookie numbers.
The animations strike a good balance between weird, intriguing, explicit, satisfying and visual candy. They hit the sweet spot of what the internet is all about.
Among the animations, we find videos named: Hotdog love, Love Gif, Lips Love, and Scissors Love. A lot of love, that is for sure!
