Open VRT asked us to create an MTV-like ident.
We created 5 colorful scenes, briefly flashing in one short fast-paced animation. Short but packed with lots of detail, to accentuate the creative nature of Open VRT.
Seperate images for each environment were made to use in presentations, cover images, profile pictures and so on.
Idents and intro’s
An ident is a beautiful way to bring cohesion to lots of videos with different subjects. It serves as an intro, outro, or bridge and reminds the viewer about the look and feel of the bigger picture, the channel, or the brand.
Brands known for their beautiful idents include BBC and MTV.
A good ident stands out and is aligned in motion, color, pace, and substance with the underlying brand.
Synonyms for idents are network ID, channel ID, bumper, or channel identification.
Open VRT
Was a community of creatives in Belgium, supported by the national broadcasting company (VRT). It organised talks and events, and provided a lot of opportunities for up and coming creatives to work with others. Cammille Polie served as the best community manager in the history of community managers.
We made this ident in 2018. Open VRT stopped existing in January of 2022.
Making an Ident for Open VRT
Making an intro ident for Open VRT was a lot of fun since it was a new brand at the time. We got carte blanche and decided to show diversity in creativity by using different colors, atmospheres, and spaces. In the center of it all is the logo in different forms, sometimes interacting with the environment.
We have a basketball court, a scene with statues in different lighting settings, and a scene with gravity in multiple directions.
The project was made using Maxon Cinema 4D and rendered with Otoy Octane Render. Final montage and compositing were done using Adobe After Effects.
